The other Siem Reap.

The Lane

You have seen the temples and can't tell them apart from a pile of rocks. You've donated more pencils to schools than you used when you were a child and you are tired of hiking up mountains to watch the ridiculously scenic sunsets.

You have a day left before your flight. What to do?

A fishy transaction...

Go to the Old Market and buy some fish and vegetables. Don't worry about which one to choose because it will choose you. They are still alive and will jump in your arms. Ahh, the romance of fishing...

Dinner... just add you.

Be productive with your new pet and veggies. Take a cooking class at The River Garden. The Cooks in Tuk Tuks class will teach you how to cook a delicious Khmer dinner. Don't think you can slack off though because you have to eat it at the end.

Loven Ramos

After becoming one with your scaly companion, walk next door to The 1961, a gallery, bar and hotel rolled into one. Mastermind Loven Ramos exhibits funky, weird and spicy art by Khmer and international artists. Catch a reading or read by yourself and be sure to check out all the galleries.

Chemical warfare...

Now that you are cultured, feel free to take on the fearsome "king of fruits", the pandora's box that is the durian. Buy one from its lofty perch and and dive into its lovely innards but beware of the smell that is best described in the words of the well seasoned Anthony Bourdain.
"Your breath will smell as if you'd been French-kissing your dead grandmother."
